September has started. Labor Day has passed. And so we begin again.
One change from last year is that school policy changed so that all the lower grade students get to wear uniforms. So in the days before school started I scrambled to find a shirt with the school logo on it for Oliver to wear on the first day. Mission accomplished.
The other new thing was the teachers, of course. Well, sort of. Simon’s 4th grade teacher was also his 2nd grade teacher. Only now she’s married and has a new name. He is happy about that. Less happy that his best friend is in a different class this year. Oliver’s teacher and class seem A-ok so far.
It was a little sad leaving the school after dropping the boys off and feeling like Elsa is so ready for kindergarten, but has another year to wait. I was sad that I couldn’t leave her, but realized that next year when she does start school, I’ll undoubtedly miss her terribly.
Elsa was not entirely left out of the first day festivities. She started a new session of gymnastics on Thursday, so we had a busy afternoon rushing from school to gymnastics—only to realize that we were half an hour early because I read the schedule for Wednesday instead of Thursday. At least we were early instead of late! And Elsa was happy to be back on the mats and the rings and the balance beam.
So, here we go again!
