The end of daylight savings time is always a little rough on us. We’re not usually awake early enough in the morning to appreciate it, and when it’s dark by 5pm, it makes for a very short day.
But this year, I actually looked forward to falling back an hour. The shift means an earlier sunrise, which makes it easier to get out of bed at 6:30 to go running.
I took advantage of it this morning. It was the first time I’d actually gotten myself up and out of bed early to run since Elsa was born. I’m not going to claim it was my best run, or that it didn’t come with a price (hello, afternoon slump!). I’m also not ready to commit to it long term (although I hope to get there someday). But I’m grateful that I have that option when I need it. I’m grateful for daylight and that I have an excuse to get up early so I can enjoy as much of it as possible.
