We have enough interest that the Peep Show will go on! It will be smaller than previous years, but that is okay. :)
All-O-ver, Ol-i-vore . . . we're learning that Oliver's name has some fun mispronunciations.
Also, ask him what is name is and this is what you'll hear: "My name is Oli . . . Oli . . . Oliv . . . Oli . . . I don't know."
Here I am at SFO. Again. What should have been a 40 minute layover has turned into a 5 hour layover with merely a possibility of getting on the red-eye at 10:30. Flying standby. And if I don't get on the standby flight . . . they tell me my next shot at JFK isn't for 24 hours. Yeah. So let's hope that doesn't happen. And if I don't get on standby, well, there's got to be another way home.
S: Oliver, Is Mom a child of God?
O: Yes!
S: No, Mom is a grown up!
The one night -- ever -- when Micah and I get to bed at 10:00 and could, feasibly, get 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep, Simon wakes up crying inexplicably at midnight and can't go back to sleep, Oliver falls out of bed, and we're all out a couple of hours of sleep. Clearly we need to never try to go to to bed early. It's the only way to get a good night's sleep around here.
One of our neighbors/friends is a chef at a fancy restaurant in Manhattan. He and his family are moving next week, so Micah and I thought we would be good friends and go eat his fancy food before he left and we didn’t have the chance to support him in his endeavors anymore. I know, the sacrifices we make to be good friends!
I can only say that it was a.maz.ing. I have never had such delicious bread and butter in my entire life. Micah and I were so sad when they took away the leftovers that we were too full to eat. Totally worth it just for the bread and butter. But there was the onion jam that came with some fancy mozzarella cheese and bread. The duck bolognese. The other dishes that I do not remember the names of, nor could I pronounce them if I did. And then, of course, there was the dessert. We ordered one to share because we weren’t sure we’d be able to stand up and walk out if we each got one. But then our friend sent up a complimentary dessert as well. And oh my, was it delicious. I savored every bite and did not regret it at all.
I wish I had something more interesting to say about it, or a funny story to accompany it, but I don’t. It was tasty food. Micah and I had a good time. I love living here and knowing people who do amazing things. And I wish I had a picture to show for it all, but I don’t. I didn’t want to be caught taking pictures of the food in such a fancy restaurant like it was some big thing.
Also, the lighting was bad so it wouldn’t have done it justice anyways.
sounded like date night was YUMMY-liscious!! I always dream about going to NYC just for all the fab restaurants…but alas, I’m stuck with L&Ls drive thru around every corner. oh well, what can we do…glad u got to enjoy yourselves! =)
Oh man, there’s nothing better than eating at a really amazing restaurant!! Once when I was in Paris our assignment was to spend at least 50 euros on a meal, and it was seriously awesome. I’m glad you guys treated yourselves!!
