We have enough interest that the Peep Show will go on! It will be smaller than previous years, but that is okay. :)
All-O-ver, Ol-i-vore . . . we're learning that Oliver's name has some fun mispronunciations.
Also, ask him what is name is and this is what you'll hear: "My name is Oli . . . Oli . . . Oliv . . . Oli . . . I don't know."
Here I am at SFO. Again. What should have been a 40 minute layover has turned into a 5 hour layover with merely a possibility of getting on the red-eye at 10:30. Flying standby. And if I don't get on the standby flight . . . they tell me my next shot at JFK isn't for 24 hours. Yeah. So let's hope that doesn't happen. And if I don't get on standby, well, there's got to be another way home.
S: Oliver, Is Mom a child of God?
O: Yes!
S: No, Mom is a grown up!
The one night -- ever -- when Micah and I get to bed at 10:00 and could, feasibly, get 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep, Simon wakes up crying inexplicably at midnight and can't go back to sleep, Oliver falls out of bed, and we're all out a couple of hours of sleep. Clearly we need to never try to go to to bed early. It's the only way to get a good night's sleep around here.
With all of the brainstorming and thinking that I have been doing over the past year about how I can keep up my writing while I am still up to my eyeballs is baby-ness, I’m surprised I didn’t think of this sooner. But a month or so ago I came up with the idea to try a running/health/fitness/mom blog and see how it goes. I am a little apprehensive about it because I have tried to launch a more “creative” writing blog before and it wasn’t as successful as I’d hoped. At least not yet. It turns out that I am not a very good editor, and also that two kids sapped the creative energy I needed to write more creative things. So I’m taking a different tack this time. And can I really go wrong when combining three of my favorite things? If chocolate, peanut butter and ice cream are a good combination, then certainly motherhood, writing, and running will be at least as good.
Here it is. The Mother Runner. (http://www.themotherrunner.com/) What can I say about it? It’s my place to write about trying to maintain a healthy, active, happy family. I hope it is interesting to others. I hope it is inspirational to others. I hope to attract some sort of following. So far I have a few easy recipes, some parenting stuff, some scientific studies, and lots of things about running. And so far I really enjoy it. It is still a work in progress. There’s design work to be done (my designer, oddly, seems to be overbooked these days), I still need to figure out how to include more visual elements, and there are lots of other things that will evolve as I get into a groove.
Let me know what you think of it and if you have any suggestions. I am especially interested in ideas regarding visuals — pictures, charts, videos, etc. Anything, really. I’d love for this to be a successful endeavor. Thanks ever so much.

Very nice. I’ve recently taken an interest in running and since I’ve only ever been a very, very casual runner, I don’t know a lot about the science and methods of it. I’ve glanced through a few posts and so far it’s very interesting to me. As far as pictures go, I think it would be nice to have some in the posts. It could be a generic photo you find somewhere that relates to the topic. One of the few blogs I follow that is written by someone I don’t know has a picture at the end of every post (sometimes more pictures, but always at least one), whether it’s related to the topic of the post or just a picture of some flowers outside her house or a beautiful sunset.
I am thrilled about this! Mostly because I love to run and hope to be a mother eventually…
I’ve checked it out and really just think that you are incredibly talented. If I come up with any brilliant suggestions- or any ideas at all I’ll pass them on.
This is cool! I was thinking about the intersection of all these things the other day! Hurray! This is going to be great!
Thanks for the suggestions, Stephanie. I’ve had some other good feedback as well and I’m excited to put your thoughts into action. I hope it turns out as well as I hope. Thanks for all of your support!
