We have enough interest that the Peep Show will go on! It will be smaller than previous years, but that is okay. :)
All-O-ver, Ol-i-vore . . . we're learning that Oliver's name has some fun mispronunciations.
Also, ask him what is name is and this is what you'll hear: "My name is Oli . . . Oli . . . Oliv . . . Oli . . . I don't know."
Here I am at SFO. Again. What should have been a 40 minute layover has turned into a 5 hour layover with merely a possibility of getting on the red-eye at 10:30. Flying standby. And if I don't get on the standby flight . . . they tell me my next shot at JFK isn't for 24 hours. Yeah. So let's hope that doesn't happen. And if I don't get on standby, well, there's got to be another way home.
S: Oliver, Is Mom a child of God?
O: Yes!
S: No, Mom is a grown up!
The one night -- ever -- when Micah and I get to bed at 10:00 and could, feasibly, get 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep, Simon wakes up crying inexplicably at midnight and can't go back to sleep, Oliver falls out of bed, and we're all out a couple of hours of sleep. Clearly we need to never try to go to to bed early. It's the only way to get a good night's sleep around here.
with chalkboard paint.
So we could do cool things like this:
and this:It’s nice to have our schedule, to-do lists, and important artistic depictions of our family sleeping right where we can see them all the time.
So lucky to have your own space where you can do things like that! Way cool.
Well, we didn't exactly ask the landlords if it was okay or not. We just know we have to paint it again when we leave, whenever that may be.
That's really cool. You guys are very creative.
I've always wanted to do that, so cool
oh im dying to do chalkboard paint in the new place but i was wondering a couple things so i am so happy you did it first! like: does it end up looking like a normal chalk board that is smooth when all is said and done or is it easy to mess up and make all blotchy? and does chalk erase cleanly and nicely or does it always look kinda messy…etc. but judging from these pictures it is FABULOUS! i hope i can get the OK from the in laws on this one. love the idea!
That's my favorite use of chalkboard paint yet.
What a good idea! Despite having a big house we have zero wallspace due to all the windows (not complaining! Love it!) so this is a great use of space! We may just copy you.
Stephanie, the paint goes on really easily and is smooth. The eraser we have right now isn't of the highest quality, so it erases less well than one might hope, but we would have to use a damp sponge to get it really clean and black again anyway. Basically, it really is like a real chalkboard, which surprised me as well.
If you are hesitant about the black, here are some instructions for making your own chalkboard paint using whatever color paint you want:

I didn't even know that there was such a thing as chalkboard paint until now. I guess I never wondered how a chalkboard was made, I just assumed that it came like that. Huh.
I didn't even know there was chalkboard paint either. What a cool idea.
I love it! So sad I didn't get to talk to you yesterday. It looks like you're doing cool things as always I'm totally jealous! Ü It makes me excited to paint our house! And to see what it all looks like in the end!
