We have enough interest that the Peep Show will go on! It will be smaller than previous years, but that is okay. :)
All-O-ver, Ol-i-vore . . . we're learning that Oliver's name has some fun mispronunciations.
Also, ask him what is name is and this is what you'll hear: "My name is Oli . . . Oli . . . Oliv . . . Oli . . . I don't know."
Here I am at SFO. Again. What should have been a 40 minute layover has turned into a 5 hour layover with merely a possibility of getting on the red-eye at 10:30. Flying standby. And if I don't get on the standby flight . . . they tell me my next shot at JFK isn't for 24 hours. Yeah. So let's hope that doesn't happen. And if I don't get on standby, well, there's got to be another way home.
S: Oliver, Is Mom a child of God?
O: Yes!
S: No, Mom is a grown up!
The one night -- ever -- when Micah and I get to bed at 10:00 and could, feasibly, get 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep, Simon wakes up crying inexplicably at midnight and can't go back to sleep, Oliver falls out of bed, and we're all out a couple of hours of sleep. Clearly we need to never try to go to to bed early. It's the only way to get a good night's sleep around here.
My sister-in-law Jodie made this awesome apron for me for Christmas. I pretty much love everything about it (the prints, the cut of the skirt, the gathered bust, that it is reversible, the long ties, etc.). I wore it all afternoon yesterday just for kicks. It is probably the nicest piece of clothing I own and I feel kind of bad getting it dirty, which is, of course, what aprons are for. The only thing I don’t like about it is that aprons are not really the kind of thing you wear outside your house. But at least if I am spending the day indoors I can be super fashionable.

That is super cute. Too bad that people don’t wear aprons outside. I got three aprons for Christmas. Maybe we should start a trend and start wearing them outside.
Super cool apron! I am not a “sewer” but seeing your cool apron makes me want to break out my mom’s sewing machine and figure out how to make one!
Why not wear it outside? I can be a new fashion statement! After all, people wear jeans with skirts over them (at least here in Seattle)…:)
there are a couple of things I like about these pictures:
1) the pictures behind you on the wall are very cool.
2) in the first picture I like how Simon is peeking around your elbow at just the right angle
and
3) the apron, which is adorable! Good job Jodie!
Ooh… Ahh…. Those are some seriously rockin’ aprons.
I want that.
I’m now going to email Jodie and ask where she got the pattern.
ooohhh and aaahhh indeed!
i really like them too- but i disagree- my friend and i were talking about making it fashinable to wear really cute aprons around everywhere you go and i think with those babies you could start the revolution!
So cute! I have this pattern myself and keep stalling to make it because I can’t find just the *right* fabric. I love it!
Yay! It looks great on you! I was thinking the same thing as Melissa–I love Simon peeking from behind your elbow!
And now I’m glad I didn’t end up making one for Jenny for Christmas like I was planning on doing…
Happy cooking!
I do like the apron, but I have to admit Simon’s reations and face in the background are also quite amusing.
I agree, Jodie, you and your apron-sewing prowess… you rock. And Lizzie, you look gorgeous!
That is an awesome apron. Even if you don’t wear it outside, at least you love to cook so it’s sure to be very used inside! :0)
Hello! I have been out of the blogging world for so long, I may have missed some blogs. What are you up to now? Are you still in NY? Do you plan to stay there for a while?
I am ooohing and aaahhhing! I love them! You look darling, and I always LOVE when you have pictures of yourself on your blog! Miss you!

Holy cow! That totally makes me want to sew! Nice job Jodie! I’m excited for the recipes you emailed us, and looking forward to getting New Best Recipes… sometime soon! You could totally make a serious fashion statement with that- and I’d be in full support of you wearing it outside! Ü
