We have enough interest that the Peep Show will go on! It will be smaller than previous years, but that is okay. :)
All-O-ver, Ol-i-vore . . . we're learning that Oliver's name has some fun mispronunciations.
Also, ask him what is name is and this is what you'll hear: "My name is Oli . . . Oli . . . Oliv . . . Oli . . . I don't know."
Here I am at SFO. Again. What should have been a 40 minute layover has turned into a 5 hour layover with merely a possibility of getting on the red-eye at 10:30. Flying standby. And if I don't get on the standby flight . . . they tell me my next shot at JFK isn't for 24 hours. Yeah. So let's hope that doesn't happen. And if I don't get on standby, well, there's got to be another way home.
S: Oliver, Is Mom a child of God?
O: Yes!
S: No, Mom is a grown up!
The one night -- ever -- when Micah and I get to bed at 10:00 and could, feasibly, get 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep, Simon wakes up crying inexplicably at midnight and can't go back to sleep, Oliver falls out of bed, and we're all out a couple of hours of sleep. Clearly we need to never try to go to to bed early. It's the only way to get a good night's sleep around here.
Well, it is the time of year we have all been waiting for, the time when the snow starts to melt (except here in Hawaii), the birds start to sing (except here in Hawaii, where they never stopped), flowers start to bloom (um, ditto), and young men’s thoughts turn towards that all-important event: The NCAA Basketball Championships. Yes, that is right, folks, March Madness is upon us. But we don’t really care about that. What we do care about is the fact that our child is less than two-months away from being born and the poor little guy doesn’t really have a name yet. So, we are asking for your help. Kind of.
Although we don’t really care about who wins the b-ball competition (unless it is BYU, of course), we decided to copy the Big Dance format into a little experiment. We have narrowed our naming options down from thousands to 60. Or, more accurately, we have expanded our options as there are quite a few of the 60 that we would never actually consider. Still, we want to find out what you think . . . which of the 60 names would you choose? We have bracketed them in the traditional March Madness manner and even allowed 4 wild card spaces for you to insert your own favorite names.
When you are finished, e-mail either of us your picks. If you don’t have our e-mail addresses and you don’t know someone else to get them from . . . then who are you and why are you reading our blog? If somebody chooses the name we actually end up using, we’ll send them a prize. Otherwise, the winner will be the person who fills out their bracket closest to how we fill out ours. Either way, they will receive their very own box of Hawaiian Host Chocolates.
Of course, we aren’t announcing the “winner” until the baby is born, so you may have to wait until May to claim it. In the mean time, feel free to share your thoughts about our little game (and any of the names) in the comments section.
DUDE! You remembered Oswog? That rocks. It is, after all, a family name… well, family pet more or less… You guys rock.
Ummm, if I win and so does someone else I expect to get my OWN box of chocolates. None of this sharing business…
wait, you mean one of those is one that you’re going to choose? I should read over it a few more times to find the serious names…
We’re pretty sure that the name we will choose is on there . . . unless somebody submits a better suggestion. But I admit that there are quite a few not-so-serious names on there. The tricky part is know which are which.
And yes, you will get your own box of chocolates (unless you don’t want chocolates, in which case we can arrange something else).
Oh, trust me, the winning name is on there…
Oh my gosh this is so fun! Thanks Heiselts for giving me something other than homework to do while sitting at work! You guys are the best!
Brutus, Brutus, Brutus.
I was REALLY hoping Paco was on that list, as I have come quite attached to that name.
If he’s born on Cinco de Mayo, you may not be too disappointed . . .
woot! I submitted an entry, too.
Can’t wait for my macadamia nut chocolates….
Happy Last Weeks of Pregnancy,
Jana
Count me in. Hilarious idea. I’m sending my bracket right now. And I like chewy chocolates for my prize, thank you.
